Race Report Round 4: Donington Park
The emotional rollercoaster that is motorsport…
After taking pole position in qualifying, we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the weekend. But motorsport has a way of keeping you humble.
A spin on the opening lap dropped us down the order, leaving us with plenty of work to do. Lap by lap we fought our way back through the field, making up position after position, and by the closing stages we were leading our class and on course for our best result of the season.
Then, heartbreak.
On the final lap, a fuel surge caused the engine to cut out. We lost just enough momentum for another car to slip past before the finish line. After everything, we crossed the line P2 in class and P12 overall.
It’s difficult not to think about what could have been, but that’s motorsport. The pace was there, the team did a fantastic job all weekend, and there are plenty of positives to take away.
As they say, the comeback is always stronger than the setback.
We’ll regroup, learn from it, and come back fighting as we aim for the top step of the podium in the final two rounds of the championship.
