Race Report Round 5: Snetterton
A weekend of frustration for the team.
Qualifying got off to a difficult start, with the car down on power, and the cutting-out issue we had experienced at Donington making a return, our main focus was just to complete the three mandatory laps each driver has to do which will allow us to take the grid for the race. Thankfully we managed to achieve this.
Back in the garage, the team got straight to work. Everyone put in a huge amount of effort between qualifying and the race to try to identify and resolve the issue. There was plenty of work going on behind the scenes, with everyone determined to get the car back out and give us the best possible chance of finishing the weekend on a positive.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
The problem returned almost immediately once we were back on track for the race. After just two laps, we had no choice but to retire the car.
It was obviously disappointing, particularly after all the work that had gone into preparing the car and trying to fix the issue between sessions. But that’s motorsport sometimes. You can put in the preparation, the hours and the effort, but ultimately you can’t always control what happens once the car hits the track.
Despite the result, I’m incredibly grateful to everyone in the team for the work they put in throughout the weekend. Nobody gave up, and everyone continued pushing right until the end.
With just one round left of the season, we’re heading to Silverstone with one last opportunity to put everything together and finish the year on a high.
