Trackday Trophy Debut

I arrived at the iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit for my debut in the MSVT Trackday Trophy on Sunday 19th May. A place rich in motorsport history, Brands Hatch is a dream venue for any racing enthusiast, and I was thrilled to finally get the chance to compete on this legendary track. Even more exciting was that I would be spending the race day with Algar Racing, a team known for its passion and dedication to the sport.

Throughout the day we discussed strategies, braking points, and overtaking opportunities. Standing at the edge of Paddock Hill Bend watching the other races taking part that day, I felt a rush of adrenaline. This corner is notoriously challenging, with its steep descent and tight turn – it was a spot where races could be won or lost.

The qualifying session was my first real test. I knew that securing a good position on the grid was crucial. As I strapped into the car and headed out onto the track, the nerves began to settle, replaced by a laser focus on the task at hand. The car felt great – responsive and powerful. Each lap, I pushed a little harder, feeling more in tune with the circuit.

When the session ended, I was thrilled to see that I had qualified sixth in my class. It was a solid starting position that gave me a good shot at a strong finish.

As the race began, Paddock Hill Bend lived up to its reputation, with several cars battling for the inside line. I managed to navigate it cleanly, holding my position.

The race was intense, with each lap presenting new challenges. I focused on maintaining a consistent pace and making calculated moves. The Dingle Dell section was particularly thrilling, with its high-speed approach and technical turns. My practice and preparation paid off as I found a rhythm and began to close in on the cars ahead.

Midway through the race, I found myself in a tight battle to maintain my position. I managed to hold my ground at Surtees, fending off an attempt to overtake. The final laps were a test of endurance and concentration, and as I crossed the finish line, I was proud to have finished sixth in my class.

I can’t thank the team and the support that I had over the weekend enough. As I look forward to future races, I carry with me the lessons learned and the memories made at Brands Hatch. The journey has just begun, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.
